A young man was allegedly beaten to death by fuel station employees following an argument over purchasing fuel in Jhenaidah. The incident occurred on Saturday night at Messrs Taj Filling Station located near the central bus terminal area of the town.

The victim, Al Miraj Nirob, was a resident of Badurgacha village in Barobazar area under Kaliganj Upazila. He ran a small fast-food business in Jhenaidah town and was also a second-year honors student at Jhenaidah Government KC College.

According to police, Nirob went to the filling station around 8 p.m. to buy fuel. However, the pump employees initially refused to provide fuel. He then went to another nearby station but later returned and noticed that another person was being given fuel in a bottle at the same pump.

Seeing this, he protested and questioned the employees, which led to a heated argument. The dispute escalated quickly, and several pump workers allegedly attacked him with sticks, leaving him critically injured.

Local people rescued Nirob and rushed him to the hospital, where doctors later declared him dead during treatment.

Following the incident, law enforcement authorities detained three employees of the fuel station. The case is being investigated by Bangladesh Police with assistance from Rapid Action Battalion.

Additional Superintendent of Police Mahfuz Hossain stated that the detainees are currently being interrogated and legal action will be taken after the investigation.

Meanwhile, hospital medical officer Sumon Pal confirmed that the victim was admitted in critical condition and later died while undergoing treatment.
