The second phase of brain surgery of BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas has been successfully completed at a private hospital in Dhaka, according to doctors involved in his treatment. His physical condition reportedly deteriorated on Friday afternoon, prompting doctors to take him to the operating theatre for an emergency procedure. The first phase of the surgery began shortly after 3 pm and was completed before evening. Following the initial operation, he was kept under close observation by the medical team. Later in the evening, after assessing his condition, doctors decided to conduct a second round of surgery, which was subsequently carried out successfully. Earlier, arrangements had been made to take the senior political leader to Singapore for advanced medical treatment and he was scheduled to be flown out on Friday evening. However, due to the sudden deterioration of his health condition, the medical team decided that immediate surgery in the country would be the safest option. Doctors said the quick decision enabled them to provide the necessary treatment without delay. After the surgeries, he was placed under intensive care for continuous monitoring. On the same day, following Friday prayers, Prime Minister Tareq Rahman visited the hospital to inquire about Mirza Abbas’s condition and was briefed in detail by the medical board overseeing the treatment. A team of renowned specialists has been formed to supervise his treatment and overall medical management. The medical board includes Professor Ali Uzzaman Zowardar, Professor Kazi Din Mohammad, Professor Shahabuddin Talukdar, Professor Raziul Haque, Professor Syed Saeed Ahmed, Professor Kader Sheikh and Professor Shafiqul Islam along with other physicians of the hospital. The doctors are jointly monitoring his health condition and providing the necessary treatment and medical supervision. According to sources, the post-operative period is considered critical, and therefore he has been kept under intensive observation so that doctors can evaluate his recovery step by step. The development has drawn significant attention in political circles, with party leaders and supporters expressing concern and praying for his quick recovery. Physicians involved in the treatment said that he will remain under close monitoring for the time being and further medical decisions will be taken depending on his progress. Overall, the medical team expressed optimism that with proper treatment and careful observation, he will gradually recover and regain stability in the coming days.
