Chief Coordinator of the National Citizen Party (NCP) Nasiruddin Patwari has made harsh remarks about Prime Minister’s political adviser Mirza Abbas during a public event. Speaking as a special guest at an iftar gathering held at Halima Khatun Girls’ Secondary School in Barishal on Sunday (March 8), Patwari criticized Abbas and urged him to behave in a civilized manner in a civilized society. Earlier in the day, a defamation and intimidation case was filed against Patwari. The case was submitted by BNP’s Ramna Police Station president Ashraful Islam at the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court, after which the court issued a summons asking Patwari to appear before it. Reacting to the case, Patwari claimed that someone involved in extortion cannot claim to have honor and therefore cannot be defamed. He also referred to past political persecution against him and stated that he had never compromised in the past and would not do so in the future.
