BNP Standing Committee member and political adviser to the Prime Minister Mirza Abbas is being taken to Singapore today for advanced medical treatment. According to sources, he is expected to be transported by an air ambulance between 11:00 and 11:30 in the morning. His wife Afroza Abbas and his elder son Mirza Yasir Abbas will accompany him on the trip. He is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the capital. Last Friday, he underwent brain surgery and has since been kept under close medical observation. Doctors said that a CT scan of his brain conducted on Saturday morning showed encouraging results. However, considering the need for more advanced treatment and further monitoring, the decision has been made to transfer him abroad. Earlier, on Thursday evening after Iftar, Mirza Abbas suddenly fell ill and lost consciousness while performing the Maghrib prayer. He was quickly taken to the hospital where a CT scan revealed complications. A virtual medical board was then formed to review his condition, and based on its recommendations, doctors decided to perform surgery. On Friday, the medical team carried out the operation in two phases. After the procedure, the former minister was kept under intensive observation for 72 hours. Several political leaders visited the hospital to inquire about his condition, while senior party leaders have also been monitoring his health. Doctors have recommended that he be moved to Singapore for more advanced treatment and continued observation.
