As the United States–Iran conflict in West Asia enters its tenth day, global concern is growing over how long the hostilities might continue. In this context, U.S. President Donald Trump said that any decision about ending the ongoing military campaign against Iran would not be made unilaterally but in consultation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In an interview, Trump stated that discussions between Washington and Tel Aviv are ongoing regarding the future of the conflict and that a final decision will be taken at the appropriate time after considering all aspects. He claimed that without the leadership of himself and Netanyahu, Iran would have already destroyed Israel and created massive instability across the region. The conflict began on February 28 when the United States and Israel jointly launched strikes inside Iran, an attack that reportedly resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Following the strike, tensions rapidly escalated across West Asia, with Iran allegedly targeting installations linked to U.S. allies in the region. The situation has drawn concern from the international community, and several countries, including India, have called for dialogue and diplomatic efforts to resolve the crisis. Meanwhile, Iran has recently announced Mojtaba Khamenei as the country’s new Supreme Leader. Responding to the development, Trump warned Tehran that the new leadership might not remain in power for long if the White House decided otherwise. He also suggested that the military campaign against Iran could continue for several weeks and indicated that the United States is prepared to sustain the conflict for an extended period if necessary.
