The British High Commissioner in Dhaka, Sarah Cook, warned that anyone attempting visa fraud or illegal entry from Bangladesh to the UK will face a 10-year travel ban.

In a statement released by the UK High Commission on Tuesday, it was emphasized that these measures are part of the UK’s effort to combat fake visas.

Cook said visa fraud destroys dreams and disrupts families. Criminals exploit people’s aspirations for a better life, steal money, and put victims at serious risk.

She urged applicants to use official channels and apply via legitimate routes. Fraudulent attempts carry serious consequences, including the 10-year ban.

The statement noted that fraudsters’ activities cause millions of pounds in losses annually, affecting vulnerable people in Bangladesh and worldwide. Criminal networks employ sophisticated methods, promising guaranteed visas, jobs, or fast processing in exchange for extra fees, often resulting in financial loss, visa rejection, travel bans, and in the worst cases, trafficking and exploitation.
