On the final day of campaigning for the upcoming 13th parliamentary election, BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman concluded a day of intense political activity by visiting the graves of his parents in the capital. After addressing eight election rallies across key areas of Dhaka throughout the day, he went to Sher-e-Bangla Nagar around 11 p.m. on Monday to pay his respects at the graves of martyred President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. He placed floral wreaths, recited prayers, and joined party leaders and activists in a prolonged supplication, creating an emotional and solemn atmosphere at the site. From late morning until evening, he addressed rallies in multiple constituencies, including Dhaka-17, Dhaka-10, Dhaka-8, Dhaka-9, Dhaka-5, Dhaka-4, Dhaka-6, and Dhaka-7, where he presented the party’s election manifesto and sought public support for building the Bangladesh of the future. In his speeches, he highlighted commitments to development, employment, good governance, and an anti-corruption drive, urging voters to cast their ballots for the Dhaner Sheesh 🌾 symbol. Meanwhile, on the same evening, the BNP Chairperson delivered a special election address to the nation, broadcast at 7:15 p.m., in which she described the February 12 election as a historic opportunity for the people to reclaim their ownership of the state and encouraged citizens to vote without fear. She pledged that if elected, her party would create ten million jobs within five years, provide special allowances for unemployed graduates, introduce a “Family Welfare Card” for every household, maintain a zero-tolerance stance against corruption, ensure merit-based recruitment, and implement a new pay scale for government employees. She also promised to reinstate the constitutional phrase expressing “full faith and trust in Almighty Allah” and emphasized the vision of building a safe and stable Bangladesh beyond party lines. She concluded by seeking forgiveness from the people for any past mistakes of the party and promising to correct them while moving forward. Thus, the final day of the campaign ended on an emotional note for Tarique Rahman, marked by both political engagement and a solemn visit to his parents’ graves.
