Tarique Rahman, Acting Chairman of the BNP and eldest son of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, recited verses from the Holy Quran while sitting beside his mother’s coffin.
On Wednesday morning, Begum Khaleda Zia’s body was brought from a private hospital in Bashundhara to her residence at House No. 196 on Gulshan Avenue in an ambulance draped with the national flag.
Final Tributes
After the body arrived at the residence, family members, relatives, and party leaders paid their final respects. During this time, Tarique Rahman was seen reciting the Holy Quran beside his mother’s coffin.
Family Presence
Tarique Rahman’s daughter, Zaima Rahman, along with other family members, was present during the recitation. Senior leaders and activists of the BNP were also in attendance.
Security Measures
Strict security arrangements were put in place around the residence. Members of the police, Border Guard Bangladesh, the army, and other law enforcement agencies were deployed to maintain security.
Funeral and Burial
The funeral prayer of Begum Khaleda Zia is scheduled to be held after Zuhr on Wednesday at Manik Mia Avenue in Dhaka. She will be laid to rest beside her husband, martyred President Ziaur Rahman.
