Speaking virtually at Rajshahi BNP’s biennial conference, the party’s acting chairman outlines political goals, economic reforms, and challenges ahead.
BNP’s acting chairman, Tarique Rahman, has indicated that he will meet with party leaders and activists in person in the near future. Addressing BNP members virtually from London on Sunday as the chief guest at the Rajshahi Metropolitan BNP’s biennial conference, Rahman expressed confidence in the party’s growing public support and outlined the path forward for political and national reconstruction.
“InshaAllah, very soon I will meet you face-to-face,” he told the audience, adding that the majority of people in Bangladesh now wish to place their trust in BNP. He stressed the importance of unity among party members to honor this public trust and to move forward with plans to rebuild the country.
Rahman stated that the first step toward restoring the people’s political rights would be implemented before the upcoming Ramadan, through elections that reflect the public’s will. However, he cautioned that many challenges would remain even after this initial milestone.
Recalling the events of the July mass uprising that led to the fall of what he described as an authoritarian regime, Rahman credited the collective effort and cooperation of the people of Bangladesh for the success. “Through the tireless efforts of our citizens, we have succeeded in driving tyranny out of this country,” he remarked.
He criticized the previous administration for what he said was the destruction of the nation’s economy, healthcare system, and law enforcement institutions. Rahman asserted that BNP would take responsibility for rebuilding these key sectors, adding that the party was already working toward this goal.
Looking ahead, Rahman emphasized the need to create skilled employment opportunities both at home and abroad if BNP returns to power. He said education would be a central focus, with plans to extend its reach to students across the nation and prepare them for a better future. “We must ensure that our youth are given the tools to succeed and contribute to the nation’s progress,” he said.
Addressing party leaders and activists directly, Rahman urged them to strengthen BNP’s connection with the public. He stressed the importance of building trust among the people, noting that the party’s work must be centered around the needs and aspirations of the citizens.
Rahman concluded by reiterating his vision for a united, capable, and people-oriented BNP that can guide Bangladesh toward stability and growth. He called on members to remain steadfast, organized, and committed to the party’s objectives as they prepare for the political battles ahead.
