BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman has issued a statement condemning the recent military escalation between India and Pakistan, urging both nations to pursue a peaceful resolution. In a verified post from his official Facebook page on Wednesday evening, Rahman expressed deep concern over the growing tensions and called for immediate steps toward de-escalation and diplomacy.

As military confrontations erupted into direct warfare between the two neighboring countries late Tuesday night, the situation has rapidly deteriorated. Over the past two weeks, tensions had been steadily mounting, but the conflict took a dangerous turn when both sides launched direct attacks. So far, reports confirm the deaths of 26 individuals in Pakistan and 7 in India, underscoring the grave consequences of the hostilities.

In his social media post, Tarique Rahman stated, "As tensions rise in the region, we condemn all forms of military aggression and extend our sympathies to the families who have lost their loved ones." He emphasized the importance of restraint and urged all parties involved to take constructive steps toward a peaceful solution to the conflict. According to Rahman, a stable and peaceful region built on mutual interests and shared aspirations is ultimately in everyone’s best interest.

The message comes at a time when regional and international actors are increasingly voicing concern over the escalation between the two nuclear-armed states. Analysts warn that continued aggression may not only threaten the immediate safety of citizens but also destabilize broader regional security.

Rahman’s appeal for peace aligns with global calls for dialogue, diplomacy, and conflict resolution. He stressed the urgency for both governments to engage in meaningful discussions to address their disputes without resorting to violence. His statement highlights the broader humanitarian and geopolitical implications of the ongoing conflict and the necessity of prioritizing long-term stability over short-term military objectives.

The BNP leader’s intervention reflects a growing demand for political and diplomatic leadership in times of crisis. Observers note that the region cannot afford another prolonged period of hostility, especially given the complex socio-economic challenges both countries face.

As the international community watches the unfolding developments with alarm, calls like that of Tarique Rahman contribute to the collective voice advocating for peace, justice, and regional cooperation.
