BNP Acting Chairman Tareque Rahman spoke over the phone with Chief Adviser of the interim government Professor Muhammad Yunus after arriving in Dhaka on Thursday.
The phone conversation took place at the VIP lounge of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport shortly after Tareque Rahman landed in the capital. The information was shared through a post on the verified Facebook page of BNP’s media cell at 12:26 pm.
According to the post, Tareque Rahman was seen speaking with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus over the phone. A video attached to the post shows him seated on a sofa while talking on his mobile phone.
After spending 17 years in exile, Tareque Rahman returned to Bangladesh on Thursday. He was accompanied by his wife Zubaida Rahman and their daughter Zaima Rahman. The Bangladesh Biman flight carrying them arrived in Sylhet from London at 9:56 am. After a brief stopover, the flight landed in Dhaka at 11:39 am.
To mark his return, BNP has arranged a mass reception at the 300 Feet area in Purbachal, Dhaka. Tareque Rahman is heading directly to the venue from the airport.
Following the reception, he is scheduled to visit Evercare Hospital in the capital to see his mother, BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, who is currently undergoing treatment there.
