Iqbal Hasan Mahmud has issued a firm warning against crime and extortion, stating that no individual will receive leniency, regardless of political affiliation or influence. He emphasized that strict legal measures will be taken against anyone involved in criminal activities. According to the minister, fulfilling public expectations and ensuring visible change remain top government priorities.
He made these remarks during an exchange meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room in Sirajganj, his constituency. The meeting was attended by officials from the district administration, police department, and representatives of various government bodies, including the Rural Electrification Board, Power Development Board, Petrobangla, NESCO, NWPGCL, and PGCB.
The minister stated that citizens now expect action rather than words. Therefore, honesty, efficiency, and dedication in public service are essential at every administrative level. He urged officials to ensure the quality of development projects and to win public trust through tangible performance.
He further revealed that the government has instructed all ministries and departments to formulate a 180-day action plan aimed at delivering visible progress within a defined timeframe. His ministry is already preparing such a plan, and he directed all district-level offices to prepare and submit their respective 180-day programs.
Highlighting election commitments, he stressed the need for swift implementation of promised initiatives. The public must see that meaningful change has begun. Maintaining quality in development work and establishing good governance are key objectives in building a truly development-oriented society.
The minister also emphasized moving beyond traditional bureaucratic practices to ensure practical and sustainable development. Taking a tough stance against crime, extortion, and irregularities, he noted, is fundamental to strengthening governance and public confidence.
Concluding his address, he called on officials to perform their duties with integrity and accountability, placing public welfare above all else.
