The Advisory Council of the interim government has decided to confer state honors on two teachers, Mahreen Chowdhury and Masuka Begum, who lost their lives in the tragic plane crash at Milestone School and College in Uttara. The decision was made on Thursday, July 24, during a meeting held at the office of the Chief Adviser.

At the beginning of the council meeting, members adopted a resolution of mourning in memory of those who perished in the devastating incident. A moment of silence was observed to honor the victims, followed by a special prayer seeking peace for the departed souls.

In addition to the posthumous recognition of the two educators, the council resolved to provide all necessary assistance to the families of the deceased and to those injured in the crash. Government agencies, particularly the Ministry of Education, have been instructed to coordinate with the school administration to determine the next steps in implementing support measures. The specifics of the state honors for the teachers will be announced shortly, following appropriate consultations.

The plane crash, which occurred on July 21 when a Bangladesh Air Force fighter aircraft crashed into a building within the Milestone School and College campus, resulted in numerous fatalities and injuries, including students, teachers, and staff. The tragedy has sparked national mourning and drawn attention to safety and emergency response protocols in educational institutions.

Recognizing the emotional and psychological toll the incident has taken, the council emphasized the importance of communal healing. As part of this effort, it was announced that special prayers will be held across all religious institutions on Friday, July 25. The Ministry of Religious Affairs has been tasked with coordinating this effort nationwide to ensure participation from diverse faith communities in remembrance of the victims and for the recovery of the injured.

Government officials present at the meeting reaffirmed their commitment to standing by the affected families. They stated that no effort would be spared in ensuring that victims receive the support and recognition they deserve. Discussions also focused on evaluating long-term policy measures that could prevent such tragedies in the future.

The state honors for the two teachers are being seen as a symbolic gesture acknowledging their dedication to education and the ultimate sacrifice they made while serving their students. Both Mahreen Chowdhury and Masuka Begum were reportedly present in their respective classrooms at the time of the incident and lost their lives while on duty.

The Advisory Council also expressed deep concern over the well-being of the injured and emphasized the importance of continuous medical and psychological care. It was agreed that the government will cover all related expenses and ensure access to advanced treatment for those in need.

In the coming days, further decisions are expected regarding institutional safety protocols, compensation packages for the affected, and educational continuity for students displaced by the incident. The Education Ministry will lead these efforts in collaboration with other departments and local administration.

The Chief Adviser, along with other council members, reiterated that the nation stands united in grief and solidarity. They emphasized that the memory of the victims will be honored not only through state recognition but also through a sustained commitment to ensuring a safer environment for all students and educators in the country.
