In Ramganj Upazila, Lakshmipur, Anowar Hossain (50), a shopkeeper, was allegedly stabbed to death in his shop on Tuesday morning at Nagmud Bazar, Volakot Union. Anowar was a resident of Saharpara village and owned a confectionery store at the market.
According to police and local sources, Md. Yusuf, a local youth, entered the shop and had a dispute with Anowar. Yusuf allegedly stabbed him in the chest and abdomen and fled. Anowar was taken to the Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead.
Anowar’s wife, Jannat Akter, demanded justice for her husband, saying the motive is unknown.
Ramganj police OC, Abdul Bari, said that the incident appears to be due to a personal dispute. The accused Yusuf is on the run, and police are trying to arrest him.
