Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh, Alexander Grigorievich Khazin, held a meeting with a delegation from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Sunday, May 4. The meeting took place at the political office of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in Gulshan, Dhaka, beginning around 11 a.m. and was still ongoing at the time of reporting.
The BNP delegation was led by the party’s Secretary General, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. Also present at the meeting were Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, a member of BNP’s Standing Committee and Foreign Affairs Advisory Committee, as well as Shama Obayed, the party’s Organizing Secretary.
Although the meeting was confirmed by party sources, the BNP has not yet disclosed the topics or agenda discussed during the talks with the Russian envoy.
This high-level diplomatic interaction comes amid a politically dynamic period in Bangladesh, with major parties engaging in domestic and international discussions. However, as of now, no official statement has been issued regarding the substance or outcomes of the meeting.
