Remittance inflows into Bangladesh have marked a significant increase in July, with a total of $2.276 billion received in the first 29 days of the month. This translates to an average of $78.5 million in daily remittance, according to data released by Bangladesh Bank on Wednesday, July 30.

Arif Hossain Khan, spokesperson and executive director of Bangladesh Bank, stated that remittance earnings for the same period last year stood at $1.732 billion. This year’s figures reflect a 31.5 percent growth year-on-year, signaling a notable recovery and strengthening of remittance inflows.

On July 29 alone, remittance received from expatriate workers amounted to $89 million, further adding to the momentum of this month’s inflow. Officials attribute the increase to a combination of regulatory initiatives, formal channel incentives, and improving global economic conditions in countries that employ large numbers of Bangladeshi workers.

The recent figures add to a historic achievement for the country. During the 2024–25 fiscal year, total remittance inflow reached $30.328 billion, the highest ever recorded in a single fiscal year in Bangladesh. This milestone reflects the crucial role of the Bangladeshi diaspora in contributing to the national economy and stabilizing foreign exchange reserves.

Experts suggest that the continued uptrend in remittance could help ease pressure on the country’s current account balance and support economic stability amid inflationary challenges and currency volatility. Bangladesh Bank is expected to continue promoting legal remittance channels and providing further incentives to ensure that this positive trend is sustained.
