The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast rain, thunderstorms, and lightning in all divisions of the country within the next 24 hours. The official weather bulletin, issued on Wednesday morning, stated that a combination of gusty winds, lightning, and rainfall is expected in several parts of the country, including the possibility of isolated hailstorms.
According to the forecast, some areas of Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions are likely to experience scattered rain or thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and temporary gusty winds. A few places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, and Chattogram divisions may also witness similar weather conditions. There is also a possibility of isolated hailstorms in certain areas.
The report further mentioned that both day and night temperatures across the country are expected to remain nearly unchanged.
Regarding the synoptic situation, the Met Office noted that an extended low-pressure area lies over West Bengal and adjoining regions, while the seasonal low lies over the southern Bay of Bengal.
At 6 a.m. on Wednesday, the relative humidity in Dhaka was measured at 75 percent. The wind in the capital was blowing from the south or southwest at a speed of 10 to 15 kilometers per hour, which may temporarily increase to 40 to 50 kilometers per hour with gusts during thunderstorms.
The authorities have advised the public to remain alert as sudden changes in weather could lead to local disruptions.
