Distribution Completed on the First Day of the Year

Primary-level students across the country have received 100 percent of their textbooks on the very first day of the year, according to Primary and Mass Education Adviser Professor Bidhan Ranjan Roy Poddar.

He made the announcement on Thursday morning after inaugurating a textbook distribution program at a government primary school in Agargaon, Dhaka.

📘 Improved Quality and Large-Scale Printing

The adviser stated that the quality of textbooks has improved compared to previous years, calling it a major achievement of the interim government. He added that a total of 300 million textbooks have been printed and distributed free of cost for both primary and secondary levels.

📚 Data from the Education Board

According to the National Curriculum and Textbook Board, a total of 85.9 million textbooks have been prepared for pre-primary to Grade Five students for the 2026 academic year. Printing, binding, and cutting were completed in advance, and the books were distributed to all upazilas ahead of time.

âš ī¸ Secondary-Level Distribution Ongoing

Meanwhile, the printing and distribution of textbooks for secondary, Dakhil, vocational, and technical levels are still in progress. More than 58 percent of these books have already been supplied, making it difficult to ensure 100 percent delivery to secondary students on the first day of the year.
