President Mohammed Shahabuddin has called for the total eradication of fascism to fully realize the spirit of the historic July Uprising, emphasizing that only through this commitment can a prosperous and just Bangladesh be built. In a statement issued on the occasion of July Uprising Day, the President reflected on the significance of this pivotal event and its ongoing relevance in shaping the nation's democratic future.

Describing the uprising as a collective outburst of a long-oppressed population, President Shahabuddin noted that the movement represented the pent-up anger and frustration of the youth and general masses against years of deprivation, authoritarian rule, corruption, enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, abductions, and the systematic suppression of voting rights and civil liberties. He said that the core objective of the July Uprising was to dismantle this discriminatory and fascist structure and replace it with a democratic system where people’s empowerment and freedom of expression are guaranteed.

Marking the anniversary of what he termed a “historic people’s victory,” the President offered his warm greetings to the freedom-loving students, workers, and citizens who took part in the movement that led to the fall of an oppressive regime. He underscored that the uprising was not an isolated incident, but rather the result of a sustained, coordinated resistance by students, workers, and ordinary people against a system that had failed to serve them.

President Shahabuddin paid deep tribute to the martyrs of the July Uprising, acknowledging the ultimate sacrifice made by many in their pursuit of a free and democratic nation. He also expressed prayers for their departed souls and recognized the immense courage of those who were injured, disabled, or lost their eyesight during the movement. Their sacrifices, he said, remain etched in the nation's collective memory and deserve to be honored with dignity and justice.

Addressing the moral and constitutional responsibility of the state, the President affirmed that ensuring justice for the families of the martyrs and the injured is a sacred duty. He reassured the public that the state remains committed to this obligation and that it will continue working toward fair recognition and redress for those who suffered during the uprising.

The President also highlighted that since the events of the July Uprising, Bangladesh has entered a phase of broad political and institutional reform. This ongoing transformation, he asserted, is driven by the ideals and aspirations that fueled the uprising itself. He expressed hope that these reforms will pave the way for a true democratic transition, leading to the establishment of a just, equal, and inclusive society.

Looking ahead, President Shahabuddin shared his optimism for the birth of a new Bangladesh—one founded on the principles of justice, equality, and democratic governance. He believes that with continued reform and unwavering commitment to the values of the July Uprising, the nation can overcome its past injustices and build a brighter, more equitable future for all.

In conclusion, the President extended his best wishes for the success of all programs and initiatives organized to commemorate July Uprising Day. He emphasized the importance of reflecting on the movement’s core values and using them as a guiding light in shaping the nation’s democratic journey forward.
