A prayer gathering was held at Azad Mosque in Gulshan, Dhaka, seeking forgiveness for the departed soul of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
Special Prayer After Asr
The event took place on Friday after the Asr prayer, where her eldest son and BNP Acting Chairman, Tarique Rahman, was present. Special prayers were offered for the peace and forgiveness of her soul following the congregational prayer.
Large Turnout of Supporters and Citizens
From noon onwards, a large number of BNP leaders, activists, and supporters gathered at the mosque and surrounding areas. People from all walks of life also joined the prayer, irrespective of political affiliation.
Presence of Senior Leaders
Senior party leaders from the central and different organizational levels attended the prayer gathering.
Nationwide Prayers
Following the passing of Begum Khaleda Zia, a three-day state mourning period was observed. Prayer and remembrance programs were organized across the country at various religious institutions.
