Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Choudhury emphasizes citizen-friendly policing during visit to Tangail

Police must become more humane and citizen-friendly in order to overcome the stigma surrounding the force, said Home Affairs Adviser Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Choudhury.

He made the remarks on Monday afternoon while responding to journalists after a discussion meeting at the Tangail Deputy Commissioner’s conference room.

Addressing recent mob incidents, the adviser stated that the government is taking strict action to control such violence. If any member of the law enforcement is found responsible for misconduct, action will be taken accordingly, along with measures against the actual perpetrators.

Commenting on the current performance of the police, he said public satisfaction is mirrored by his own, as he represents the people. While satisfaction may not be a fixed metric, efforts continue to ensure the well-being of all.

Regarding flood concerns, he mentioned that there has been no flooding yet and requested prayers that it does not occur. However, if it does, all necessary preparations are in place.

Tangail Deputy Commissioner Sharifa Haque and Superintendent of Police Md. Mizanur Rahman were also present at the event.
