Aminul Haque, the BNP-nominated paddy sheaf candidate for Dhaka-16 constituency, has expressed deep shock and sorrow over the tragic suicide of his wife and child after a Chhatra League activist imprisoned in Jessore was not released on parole. He said, “We don’t want to see another inhuman state. We want to build a humane Bangladesh.”

He said these things during a public meeting in Bauniabad ‘C’ Block area of Pallabi this morning on the fourth day of campaigning ahead of the 13th National Parliament election. Aminul Haque said that the repetition of such heartbreaking incidents is extremely shameful for us as a nation. He called on all concerned, including law enforcement agencies, to be more humane towards the people.

During the public meeting, he distributed leaflets among the low-income people of Ward No. 5 and sought votes using the paddy sheaf symbol. If elected, he pledged to eliminate the fear of eviction and provide permanent housing, modern drainage systems to alleviate waterlogging, and ensure free education and healthcare.

At the time, Aminul Haque reiterated the 'zero tolerance' policy against drugs and juvenile gangs and expressed his determination to develop Pallabi-Rupnagar as a peaceful, safe and livable area.
