Professor Dr. Mohammad Nasir Uddin, Director of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, has announced that none of the victims currently receiving treatment following the Uttara plane crash require blood donations. Speaking at a press conference held on the night of Thursday, July 24, he addressed concerns and inquiries from the public regarding the needs of the injured.

He stated that the condition of the burn victims has not necessitated any blood transfusions. Additionally, the institute has sufficient reserves of skin graft materials, making external skin donations unnecessary at this time. Dr. Nasir Uddin added that although many well-wishers have reached out to offer financial assistance, the government is currently covering all costs and providing comprehensive support for treatment and recovery.

Providing an update on the condition of the patients, Dr. Nasir Uddin confirmed that two more students succumbed to their injuries on Thursday, bringing the number of critical patients to six. He noted that the 13 patients who were reported in critical condition on Wednesday remain in the same state, but there is hope for improvement in the coming days. On a more optimistic note, he informed that 13 patients have been moved to general cabins over the last two days, and many of them may be discharged within the next few days.

The tragic incident occurred on Monday, July 21, when a Bangladesh Air Force fighter jet crashed into a building at Milestone School and College in Uttara, Dhaka. The impact caused widespread destruction and led to significant casualties among students, staff, and civilians.

According to the latest update from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the death toll from the crash has reached 32. A total of 165 individuals are currently undergoing treatment at various medical facilities. The National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery is treating 45 burn victims, out of which 11 have died. Additionally, nine deaths have been reported at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), where 15 others remain admitted.

Information released by the Press Wing of the Chief Adviser’s Office confirms that the total number of confirmed deaths stands at 29. Across nine different hospitals in Dhaka, 57 burn patients are currently being treated. The interim government has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that all necessary medical and logistical support is provided to those affected by the tragedy.

Authorities continue to monitor the condition of the injured closely while investigations into the cause of the crash are underway. The government has assured the public that comprehensive assistance will be extended to the families of the deceased and injured.
