Bangladesh’s Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain Bakul has stated that the new generation is closely observing every action of the administration, leaving no room for negligence or complacency in public service, and that all government officials must carry out their responsibilities with full transparency and accountability. He made these remarks on Saturday afternoon while addressing a coordination meeting with government officials of Narsingdi district at the Deputy Commissioner’s office. Emphasizing that ensuring quality public service remains the government’s primary objective, he said efficiency, integrity, and transparency must go hand in hand to meet public expectations. He noted that the mindset with which work was conducted in the past is no longer acceptable in the current context, as the country has progressed significantly and citizens are far more aware and vigilant. Warning against any lapse in duty, he said that mistakes or negligence would now yield swift consequences, unlike in the past when accountability might have been delayed. He further stressed that designations—whether minister, member of parliament, or government official—are secondary to the collective responsibility of working as a unified team to build the nation. Public trust, he said, must be earned through tangible performance rather than ceremonial gestures. Taking a firm stance against corruption, he declared that the administration must commit to being fully corruption-free. He also highlighted the need to eliminate drug abuse from society, curb eve-teasing, and eradicate extortion practices. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Anwar Hossain and attended by senior officials including Khairul Kabir Khokon, Monjur Elahi, Ashraf Uddin Bakul, Abdullah Al Faruk, and Dr. Syed Amirul Haque. Discussions focused on overall district development, improving healthcare service delivery, and enhancing coordinated initiatives across administrative levels to ensure more effective and people-oriented governance.
