In the 13th National Parliamentary Election, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) nominated candidate Mizanur Rahman Minu, contesting with the Dhaner Sheesh 🌾 symbol, has been unofficially elected from the Rajshahi-2 (Sadar) constituency. According to unofficial results received on 13 February 2026, he secured a clear lead over his rival candidates and confirmed victory in the seat. Election-related sources said that after the counting process, he maintained a steady lead from the beginning and ultimately emerged as the winner. Local election officials also reported that voting in the constituency was conducted peacefully, with a satisfactory turnout at polling centers.

The overall electoral picture in Rajshahi district shows that out of six parliamentary constituencies, BNP-nominated candidates have unofficially won four seats, while candidates of Jamaat-e-Islami have secured victory in the remaining two. This outcome indicates a clear dominance of BNP and its allies in the district and has created a new political equation in the local landscape. Following the results, discussions have begun across political circles. Party leaders and activists have described the victory as a reflection of public support and have pledged to focus on development, good governance, and public welfare initiatives in the coming days.

It is noteworthy that in the 12th National Parliamentary Election held in 2024, independent candidate Shafiqul Rahman, who contested with the scissors symbol, had won the same seat. The change in this election’s result has created a new political reality in the constituency, which analysts believe may influence future political dynamics. Formal reactions and future plans from the winning candidate and the concerned party are expected after the official declaration of the final results.
