Following the announcement of the schedule for the 13th National Parliament election, leaders of the National Party (Jatiya Party - Japa) have become active in Lalmonirhat. Various political parties are conducting campaigns after announcing candidates in the district’s three parliamentary constituencies. While one seat was left without a candidate due to internal disagreements, the BNP announced candidates for the other two constituencies. Jamaat had already declared candidates for all three seats and started campaigning, later changing a candidate in one seat.

The newly formed National Citizens Party (NCP) finalized candidates in two constituencies. Other parties including Islami Andolan Bangladesh and Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis have announced their candidates and organized their local campaigns. The Communist Party of Bangladesh, Ganasanghati Andolan, and Jana Party are also preparing for the elections, though their overall activity remains limited.

Lalmonirhat-3 (Sadar) has historically been considered a stronghold of Japa. Chairman G.M. Quader has been elected multiple times from Lalmonirhat-3. After political upheavals on 5 August last year, the district Japa office faced attacks, and top leaders were charged, leading to limited activity. Following the schedule announcement, the leaders have become more active.

Candidate Announcements

  • Lalmonirhat-3: Japa Chairman’s advisor Md. Zahid Hasan, Moshiur Rahman (Ranga) for Lalmonirhat-1, and Elahan Uddin for Lalmonirhat-2 have been nominated by Japa.

  • Lalmonirhat-1 (Hatibandha-Patgram): BNP has nominated Hasan Rajib Pradhan; Jamaat candidate is Anwarul Islam. Other parties, including NCP and Khilafat Majlis, have yet to finalize candidates.

  • Lalmonirhat-2 (Aditmari-Kaligang): Jamaat’s candidate is Firoz Haider (Lablou); other parties are actively campaigning. BNP has not announced a candidate here.

Campaign Highlights

  • Asadul Habib (Dulu), BNP candidate for Lalmonirhat-3, has received recognition due to his activism in local movements like “Alokito Lalmonirhat” and “Jago Bahe Teesta Bachai.”

  • Jamaat candidate Abu Taher aims to leverage the post-July political scenario and increase public support.

  • Candidates from NCP, AB Party, Khilafat Majlis, Islami Andolan, and CPB have also begun their local election campaigns.

Political parties are actively organizing election campaigns across Lalmonirhat following the schedule announcement, signaling growing electoral activity in the district.
