At a political gathering held in Rangpur, leaders of a ten-party electoral alliance that includes Jamaat-e-Islami emphasized unity, equality, and collective responsibility in national governance ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections. Jamaat’s chief Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, speaking as the main guest, stated that the nation must no longer be pushed toward division, polarization, or retaliatory politics. He argued that public aspirations revolve around justice, accountability, anti-corruption, and inclusive state reform. He stressed that if given a five-year mandate by voters, the alliance plans to pursue governance based on unity, transparency, and public participation. The speaker highlighted that youths who took part in recent political upheavals are expecting structural reforms, and a political environment free from corruption and authoritarian tendencies. According to the alliance, political retaliation, the culture of fabricated lawsuits, and imprisonment of dissidents have weakened democratic norms and fostered frustration among citizens. They claimed that despite long periods of political contestation, imprisonment, and legal persecution, they remain opposed to revenge politics and insist that no innocent citizen should suffer incarceration or intimidation. The leaders further argued that the young generation expects transformation rather than continuity of old political traditions and expressed concern over persistent institutional weaknesses and governance failures. The alliance called for an election that upholds democratic clarity and enables undecided voters to freely determine the outcome without coercion or polarization. Speakers emphasized that both government institutions and opposition actors must maintain a peaceful environment during election campaigns. Throughout the event, references were made to citizens’ demands for reform, socio-economic justice, administrative tolerance, and accountability in public leadership. The Jamaat leader concluded by introducing the alliance’s nominated candidates and urged the public to vote peacefully, asserting that political change and national development require collective participation and a shared sense of responsibility. The event closed with the expectation that voters would endorse reform-oriented politics and contribute to building a fair, peaceful, and corruption-free nation.
