Addressing a large election rally at the Prabhati School ground in Khalishpur, Khulna, BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman stated that if BNP forms the government, the first and foremost responsibility will be comprehensive national reconstruction. He said that forces which rely on lies, demean women, and have deprived people of their voting rights for years can never claim to be patriotic or pro-people. Emphasizing action over rhetoric, he noted that Bangladesh can only move forward through realistic and sustainable initiatives, not empty promises. Tarique Rahman stressed that rebuilding the nation requires unity across political affiliations, professions, genders, and social classes, asserting that no country can progress by excluding large sections of its population. Highlighting the role of women, he pointed out that nearly half of Bangladesh’s population consists of women, and any development plan that sidelines them is bound to fail. Criticizing misogynistic remarks made by a political party ahead of the election, he said openly rejecting women’s leadership and using offensive language against working women is a disgrace not only to women but to the entire nation. He underscored that millions of women, particularly in the garment sector, keep the national economy running, while women from lower- and middle-income families work alongside their spouses to cope with rising living costs, yet are now being subjected to humiliation. Tarique Rahman accused those responsible of attempting to mislead the public with excuses when faced with criticism, saying such actions expose their true character before the election. He further stated that for nearly 16 years, the people of Bangladesh have been deprived of their fundamental right to vote, not only in national polls but also in local government elections, leaving citizens unable to freely express their opinions. He alleged that during this period, attempts to speak out were met with enforced disappearances, repression, and even killings. Announcing a plan to introduce a ‘Family Card’ for every household if BNP comes to power, he said the initiative aims to gradually empower women economically so they can live with dignity and independence. Referring to Khulna, Satkhira, and Bagerhat, he described Khulna as a once-thriving industrial hub that is now nearly stagnant, and pledged that under a Dhaner Sheesh 🌾 government, the region would be revitalized as a vibrant industrial center. He concluded by saying that only by ensuring employment for both men and women, improving education and healthcare, and restoring democratic rights can Bangladesh be rebuilt in line with the aspirations of its people.
