The government has seized and attached movable and immovable assets worth a total of Tk 66,146 crore from various industrial groups, according to the Ministry of Finance. Of this amount, assets worth Tk 55,638 crore are located inside the country, while Tk 10,508 crore worth of assets are abroad.
Officials clarified that “attachment” means the owners can no longer sell or transfer the assets, while seized funds cannot be withdrawn from banks. The decision was discussed at a meeting of the National Coordination Committee formed to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing.
The meeting also decided to amend the Money Laundering Prevention Act to make the recovery of laundered foreign assets more effective. Authorities were instructed to expedite charge sheets and ensure swift disposal of priority cases, including 11 cases identified for overseas asset recovery. Preparations for an international evaluation scheduled for 2027–28 were also emphasized.
