Formal charges have been submitted against seven individuals, including senior Awami League leaders Obaidul Quader and A F M Bahuddin Nasim, in a case related to crimes against humanity committed during the July mass uprising.
The charges were filed at International Crimes Tribunal-2. Other accused include former state minister Mohammad Ali Arafat, Jubo League leaders Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash and Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil, and Chhatra League leaders Saddam Hossain and Sheikh Wali Asif Inan.
Prosecutors stated that preliminary evidence indicates their involvement in repression and violence during the uprising. With the submission of formal charges, the judicial process has officially moved forward.
