Several foreign embassies in Dhaka have lowered their national flags to half-mast in honor of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, expressing solidarity with Bangladesh during the period of national mourning.

Condolences from Diplomatic Missions

On Wednesday, a number of diplomatic missions observed mourning by flying their flags at half-mast. In condolence messages, the missions expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Begum Khaleda Zia and conveyed sympathy to her family as well as to the people of Bangladesh.

National Mourning Observed

Following her death, the government declared a three-day national mourning period starting Wednesday, which will continue until Friday. As part of the observance, national flags are being flown at half-mast at all government, semi-government, autonomous institutions, educational institutions, and both public and private buildings across the country. Bangladeshi missions abroad are also observing the mourning in the same manner.
