All educational institutions across the country are set to observe a five-day consecutive holiday in February, during which regular academic activities will remain suspended, creating a break period for students, teachers, and guardians alike. From the beginning of February, institutions have been experiencing a series of holidays, and from February 11 to February 15, all classes will again remain closed according to the latest decision. The move has been taken to ensure the smooth conduct of the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election and the associated referendum, for which all educational institutions will remain closed on February 11 and 12. The following two days, February 13 and 14, fall on Friday and Saturday, which are regular weekly holidays, effectively extending the closure period. Immediately after the weekend, February 15 will be observed as a holiday on the occasion of the religious observance of Sri Sri Shivaratri, bringing the total number of consecutive holidays to five days. Relevant sources said the decision was taken because educational institutions may be used for election-related purposes, and therefore it is necessary to keep them closed during that period. In addition, a general holiday has been declared on February 11 in connection with the parliamentary election to facilitate smooth voting arrangements across the country. Authorities have also decided to declare a general holiday on February 10 for workers in industrial areas, enabling them to exercise their voting rights without disruption. February 12, the election day itself, had already been announced as a general holiday earlier. Taken together, the election schedule and the religious observance have created a continuous five-day holiday period for educational institutions, allowing students a short academic break while authorities prepare for and manage the important national events taking place during this time.
