The upcoming national election will be held in February as scheduled, and there is no force capable of causing any delay, said Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam.

On Friday, after offering Jumu’ah prayers and visiting the graves of Shaheed Rabbi and Shaheed Al Amin in Magura, Shafiqul Alam addressed journalists and reiterated the government’s firm stance on the election timeline.

“The election will take place in February. There is no force that can delay it. As the Chief Adviser has said, the election will be held as planned. There is no doubt about it,” he stated. “Those who are sowing seeds of doubt should stop. The election will be in February—there is no uncertainty about this.”

He emphasized that the entire nation is ready for the election, and all institutions involved in the process have already started their preparations. According to him, once the monsoon season ends, an electoral atmosphere will spread across the country, reaching neighborhoods and communities everywhere. “You will witness the festival of democracy as the election approaches,” he added.

Shafiqul Alam pointed out that ensuring a peaceful election is a core responsibility of the government, and both the government and the Election Commission are actively working to fulfill that duty. In addition to official measures, he stressed the importance of social responsibility, urging citizens to work together to make the election a positive and participatory event.

He further remarked that a credible and fair election requires cooperation from all segments of society, and that the upcoming polls will be an opportunity for the nation to unite in a shared democratic exercise. The Press Secretary expressed confidence that the election will not only proceed on time but will also reflect the collective will and aspirations of the people.

Shafiqul Alam’s statement comes at a time when speculation about a possible delay in the election had been circulating in certain quarters. Addressing these concerns directly, he reaffirmed that the electoral calendar remains unchanged and that any rumors to the contrary are baseless.

Highlighting the preparations already in motion, he mentioned that logistical arrangements, coordination among relevant institutions, and groundwork in the electoral process are advancing steadily. He noted that once the seasonal rains conclude, political activities and election-related engagement will visibly intensify across towns, villages, and urban neighborhoods.

“The excitement of the election will be felt everywhere,” he said. “The people will actively take part in what is, for them, a significant national celebration. It will not only be about casting votes, but also about reaffirming our democratic values.”

Shafiqul Alam underlined the dual role of the authorities and citizens in ensuring a smooth electoral process. While the government and the Election Commission are tasked with creating a secure and well-organized voting environment, the public also has a role to play in maintaining peace and fostering unity during the election period.

He noted that peaceful participation and mutual respect among political stakeholders are essential for the credibility of the electoral outcome. “This is not just an administrative event; it is a social event as well,” he said. “We must all come together to make it a good election.”

According to him, the election will be an opportunity to demonstrate the nation’s commitment to democracy in the eyes of the world. “The world will be watching,” he added, “and we want to show that our democracy is strong, inclusive, and resilient.”

He dismissed concerns that political disagreements or external influences could affect the election schedule, asserting that the process is firmly on track. “Our timeline is clear, our preparations are clear, and our intention is clear,” he said. “The election will be held in February without question.”

As the political climate intensifies in the lead-up to the polls, the Press Secretary’s statement aims to reassure the public and stakeholders that the election will be conducted in accordance with the announced schedule. He called for unity, patience, and cooperation from all sectors of society, emphasizing that the success of the election depends on both institutional readiness and civic responsibility.

The Chief Adviser’s office has been actively engaging with various agencies to ensure that security, logistical, and administrative measures are implemented well in advance of the voting day. Election officials, law enforcement agencies, and administrative bodies are expected to coordinate closely to manage the process efficiently and fairly.

In closing, Shafiqul Alam reiterated that the government is committed to upholding the principles of a free, fair, and peaceful election. “This is our shared responsibility,” he said. “From the government to the Election Commission, from political parties to ordinary citizens, we must all work together to ensure the election is a success. The date is set, the preparations are underway, and there will be no delay.”

With these assurances, the administration hopes to dispel any remaining doubts and to set the stage for an election that will be remembered not only for its punctuality but also for its integrity and inclusiveness. As the nation counts down to February, the momentum for the electoral process continues to build, with the promise of a democratic event that engages and unites the entire country.
