The Election Commission (EC) is set to release the final roadmap for the upcoming elections later this week, according to senior secretary Akhtar Ahmed. He confirmed that the draft electoral action plan has been finalized and is now ready for formal announcement.

Speaking to journalists on Monday at the Election Commission headquarters in Agargaon, Dhaka, Akhtar Ahmed provided details of the upcoming electoral arrangements. He stated that the commission plans to complete the final electoral action plan within the current week, signaling the beginning of structured election preparations.

As part of the roadmap, public hearings for boundary determination will commence on August 24 and continue over a period of four days. These hearings will cover 82 constituencies where boundary delineations are yet to be finalized. The EC aims to ensure transparency and citizen participation throughout the process.

Regarding voting arrangements, Akhtar Ahmed noted that while the total number of polling centers will not increase, adjustments have been made to accommodate a growing number of voters. Each polling station will now serve approximately 3,000 registered voters. Additionally, individual voting booths will be adjusted to hold 600 voters each, up from the previous 500, to manage voter flow efficiently.

In terms of political party oversight, letters have been dispatched to 22 political parties for field investigations. This measure is intended to ensure compliance with electoral regulations and maintain fairness throughout the election period.

On the security front, the senior secretary reassured the public that there is currently no cause for concern regarding law and order. The Election Commission continues to monitor the situation closely to guarantee a safe and orderly election process.

The finalization of the roadmap marks a significant step toward conducting the upcoming elections in a structured and transparent manner.
