Ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election, the Election Commission (EC) has directed law enforcement agencies to take strict action against any activities that disrupt the electoral environment. The EC stated that there is no need to show leniency toward those attempting violence, sabotage, or disorder to derail the election.

In a series of meetings held in the capital with the chiefs of the three armed forces and senior law enforcement officials, the EC instructed authorities to intensify joint operations, recover illegal weapons, arrest militants, and strengthen area-based checkpoints. Ensuring the security of candidates and political parties was also emphasized.

The EC noted that recent incidents of violence following the announcement of the election schedule must not be allowed to affect the overall electoral atmosphere. It made clear that anyone involved in such acts—regardless of identity—will face legal action.

The Commission also expressed concern over the safety of media professionals, stating that a free and fair election is not possible without ensuring journalists’ security. Law enforcement activities at the field level will be further strengthened to maintain overall stability.
