Jamaat-e-Islami chief Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has said that the killing of Sharif Osman bin Hadi continues to cause profound grief and anger across the nation, and the failure to bring the main suspects under the rule of law has raised questions about the responsibility and competence of the state and its security apparatus. He noted that the death of a promising young activist has created an irreplaceable vacuum in political activism and street movements. Although a formal charge sheet has already been submitted, he questioned why the key suspects remain out of reach and why misleading statements are being spread regarding whether they are inside the country or have fled abroad. If they are in a neighboring or foreign state, he argued, it is the duty of the government to ensure their repatriation through diplomatic and legal procedures and to conduct an investigation not limited to arrest but also to uncover any broader conspiracy linked to the killing. He warned that sustained culture of impunity erodes public trust in the state and justice system and said that honoring the blood of a martyr means ensuring justice, which is both a constitutional and moral obligation.
