BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has sounded the alarm over what he described as a renewed conspiracy to push Bangladesh toward political instability. Speaking at a youth rally organized by Jubo Dal on Monday at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) in Ramna, Dhaka, Fakhrul said the nation is once again under threat from orchestrated plots aimed at disrupting the country’s democratic transition.
Addressing the gathering held in remembrance of the July uprising, as well as a time of national mourning and victory, he expressed deep concern that unseen forces are attempting to derail Bangladesh's path toward democracy. "There is an ongoing conspiracy, a plot to create unrest again in the country," Fakhrul stated. He suggested that these efforts are calculated to obstruct a smooth and meaningful democratic progression in Bangladesh.
He affirmed that the BNP and its allied organizations—particularly Jubo Dal and Chhatra Dal—remain steadfast in their defense of democracy and national stability. "So long as BNP, Jubo Dal, and Chhatra Dal exist, no force will ever be able to destroy democracy in this country," he declared.
Fakhrul reflected on the difficult times that BNP activists and the general public have endured under what he referred to as the repressive rule of the Hasina government. Despite the suppression, he said, the nation has now entered a transitional phase where there is once again a potential for democratic restoration. Yet this opportunity comes with immense responsibility and challenges.
He pointed to the current economic collapse and the decay of political institutions as the primary obstacles ahead. “We are standing at a critical juncture where we must restore both the broken economy and the shattered political structure. Only then can we move forward with hope,” he remarked.
Fakhrul reminded the audience that BNP has historically stepped up during times of national crisis, leading efforts to rebuild and reorganize the country. "Every time this nation has faced destruction, every time the economy has fallen apart, it has been the BNP that has taken up the responsibility to bring it back from the brink," he said. He suggested that history may once again be calling the BNP to shoulder that responsibility in the face of mounting crises.
The BNP leader urged all political parties to rise above blame games and work together for a greater cause. He called for unity and collective action to rebuild democracy and stabilize the nation’s economic framework. “Let us not waste this moment in slinging mud at each other. We have been given an opportunity to revive democracy and restore economic prosperity in Bangladesh. Let us seize this moment together,” Fakhrul appealed.
He ended his speech with a call for dignity, cooperation, and resilience. Fakhrul emphasized that the goal should be a Bangladesh that can stand tall in the world—not fragmented by internal conflict, but united by a shared commitment to democratic progress and economic recovery.
The rally marked a politically charged moment for the BNP, which is increasingly vocal in positioning itself as the necessary alternative to the current government. As tensions simmer in the country’s political atmosphere, Fakhrul’s comments reflect a growing urgency within the opposition to reclaim ground and prepare for what they believe may be a defining period in Bangladesh's political future.
With uncertainty looming and the stakes rising, the message from Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was clear: the BNP is ready to confront the conspiracies and challenges ahead, with a commitment to rebuilding the nation and protecting its democratic ideals.
