The Election Commission (EC) may receive the official letter today regarding the administration of the oath to the newly elected Members of Parliament.

Election Commissioner Anowarul Islam Sarkar shared this information with journalists around 11:30 am on Sunday. He said the commission could receive the letter within the day and that all preparations for administering the oath to the MPs have already been completed.

According to sources at the Parliament Secretariat, the oath-taking ceremony for the newly elected MPs is scheduled to be held on Tuesday morning at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A M M Nasir Uddin will administer the oath.

Meanwhile, sources from the Cabinet Division said that the swearing-in ceremony of the new cabinet will take place the same day at 4:00 pm. President Mohammed Shahabuddin will administer the oath to the ministers.

In the Thirteenth National Parliament election, the BNP secured an absolute majority. Under the leadership of Tarique Rahman, the party is set to form the government again after two decades.

Voting was held on 12 February in 299 out of 300 constituencies. The following day, on 13 February, the Election Commission announced the unofficial results of 297 seats. Due to High Court directives, the gazette notification for Chattogram-2 and Chattogram-4 constituencies has not yet been issued.

Out of the 297 declared seats, the BNP won 209. The party is also leading in the two constituencies where results remain pending. BNP’s allied parties secured three seats. Jamaat-e-Islami won 68 seats, while other partners of the Jamaat-led 11-party electoral alliance won nine seats. Independent candidates were victorious in seven constituencies, and Islami Andolon Bangladesh secured one seat.
