BNP Leaders Warn of Resistance Against Political Conspiracies Amid Nationwide Instability
The Chattogram Metropolitan Volunteer Wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) organized a protest rally on Tuesday, July 15, against what they described as a deteriorating law and order situation and conspiracies aimed at destabilizing the country. The demonstration began with a gathering at Jamiatul Falah Mosque ground and ended at the city’s Sholoshahar Two Number Gate after marching through key streets.
During the pre-march rally, BNP Central Assistant Organizational Secretary Barrister Mir Helal addressed supporters as the chief guest. In his speech, he accused the current government under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of creating a “mob culture,” which he characterized as part of a broader pattern of political violence.
Mir Helal emphasized that the BNP is a party committed to pluralistic democracy, founded on the ideals of the late President Ziaur Rahman. He stressed that the party does not condone or endorse any form of injustice or disorder. According to him, BNP’s Acting Chairman Tareq Rahman has called on supporters to remain patient and restrained, which is why the party has so far observed the situation with composure. However, Mir Helal warned that if actions outside the bounds of decency and political etiquette continue, resistance will emerge from Chattogram.
He further stated that for the past 17 years, there have been continuous attempts to destroy both the BNP and the Zia family. Despite these conspiracies, he claimed, BNP remains prepared to face all challenges with the support of the people. Mir Helal likened Tareq Rahman to the sun, saying, “Even if some dislike the sunlight, no one has the power to block it.” He added, “Only Allah can restrain Tareq Rahman. Under his leadership, the future of Bangladesh will be shaped as a self-reliant nation.”
The protest march featured participation from leaders and activists of Chattogram Metropolitan Volunteer Wing. The rally was presided over by the unit’s convenor Belayet Hossain Bulu and conducted by Member Secretary Engineer Jamir Uddin Nahid.
Speakers at the rally included Volunteer Wing Central Senior Vice President Yasin Ali, Chattogram Metropolitan Volunteer Wing Joint Convenors Moinuddin Rashed, Sirajul Islam Bhuiyan, Zahirul Haque Tutul, M. Abu Bakkar Raju, Rajim Uddin Akand, Mohsin Kabir Apel, Rifat Hossain Shakil, Didar Hossain, Harunur Rashid, Golam Sarwar, Abdul Halim Guddu, Md. Alamgir, Kamrul Hasan, N Mohammad Rimon, Arifur Rahman Chowdhury, Iftekhar Uddin Niblu, and Tajul Islam Nayon, among others.
Throughout the event, speakers reiterated that the BNP remains committed to upholding multi-party democracy and facing any political challenge through peaceful and organized resistance. They accused the ruling party of targeting BNP leadership through unjust actions and conspiracies but reaffirmed that no such efforts would succeed against their leader, Tareq Rahman.
The day’s program concluded peacefully after the rally reached its final point at Sholoshahar Two Number Gate, leaving a message of political determination from BNP’s volunteer forces in Chattogram.
