Chief Election Commissioner A. M. M. Nasir Uddin has asserted that Bangladesh is moving away from a legacy of questionable and allegedly rigged electoral processes, insisting that such practices will not be tolerated in the country’s future political landscape. According to him, the Election Commission is aligning itself with principles of transparency, accountability, and strict legal enforcement, with a view to ensuring that all candidates and political parties operate within a clearly defined and fair framework. He emphasized that appeals against the rejection or acceptance of nomination papers will be reviewed solely on legal merit, and decisions will be based on documented evidence, procedural correctness, and constitutional compliance.

The CEC further noted that a credible election is not merely defined by polling day activities but by the entire administrative chain that precedes it—from scrutiny of nominations and campaign protocols to monitoring, observation, security coordination, and result management. He stated that the Commission is actively coordinating with multiple state institutions to ensure a genuine level playing field, and that voters are able to cast their ballots freely and safely. He expressed hope that political parties will also act responsibly and recognize elections as an integral component of democratic practice rather than a transactional power contest.
