Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A.M.M. Nasir Uddin has expressed his firm belief that Bangladesh will be able to deliver a fair and transparent election if everyone works together with sincerity and unity. He made these remarks in a video message published on Thursday through the official YouTube channel of the Election Commission (EC).

In his statement, the CEC said he is confident that the nation can look forward to an election that reflects the will of the people. “Together, God willing, we will be able to present the nation with a fair and beautiful election. I have faith in this,” he declared, urging all stakeholders to support the electoral process.

Nasir Uddin introduced the Election Commission’s official YouTube channel as a reliable and easily accessible source of information for the public. He emphasized that the platform will provide voters, candidates, and citizens with essential details on election-related matters. According to him, the channel will feature information on voter registration procedures, election schedules, candidate guidelines, and important directives for participants in the electoral process.

He further added that the initiative is aimed at ensuring transparency and spreading awareness among citizens about their rights and responsibilities. “This channel will also highlight the civic duties and rights of every voter. We are committed to providing this information in a straightforward and comprehensive manner so that the people can remain properly informed,” the CEC stated.

Highlighting the Commission’s focus on inclusivity, Nasir Uddin underscored the importance of involving women, youth, persons with disabilities, and marginalized communities in the democratic process. He said the EC is determined to create opportunities for these groups to be actively engaged in elections and contribute meaningfully to the country’s democratic development.

The CEC stressed that credibility and public confidence are central to a free and fair election. Transparency in the electoral system, he noted, is crucial to building trust between citizens and the institutions responsible for overseeing elections. “For an acceptable election, the trust in our system and its transparency are of utmost importance. We aim to present our commitments clearly and convincingly so that the public’s confidence is strengthened,” he said.

He also addressed emerging challenges in the electoral environment, particularly the misuse of artificial intelligence (AI) in spreading misinformation. Pointing to the growing problem of fabricated videos, false content, and disinformation on social media, the CEC called on citizens to be cautious in verifying information before believing or sharing it. “My appeal to everyone is to please verify information before you trust it or circulate it. Do not rely on manipulated or false content. Check first, and only then believe or share,” he urged.

In his message, Nasir Uddin invited the public to actively follow the Commission’s video updates. He encouraged citizens to subscribe to the channel, remain informed, and share accurate information with others. By doing so, he argued, citizens can collectively help combat misinformation and ensure that credible details reach the broader population.

The CEC framed the fight against misinformation as a collective responsibility. He called on the public to join the Election Commission in resisting the spread of falsehoods on social platforms, describing it as a battle that must be faced together. “Let us all begin this fight against disinformation. Let us counter the attempts to spread false narratives on social media. Together, we can uphold the truth, strengthen trust, and ensure that every voice and every vote matters,” he said.

He reiterated his hope that the Commission, with the cooperation of citizens, will succeed in delivering an election that reflects democratic values. “We want to stand united in protecting the integrity of our electoral process. I ask for your cooperation, because only with unity can we guarantee an election that the nation can be proud of,” Nasir Uddin concluded.

The CEC’s video address marks an effort to combine transparency, communication, and digital outreach in the Commission’s strategy ahead of the upcoming election. His words signal both a reassurance to citizens and a reminder of the challenges facing the electoral process, particularly in a digital era where information can easily be manipulated.
