Kurigram, Bangladesh – Allegations have emerged against India’s Border Security Force (BSF) for allegedly entering Bangladesh’s territory and assaulting five Bangladeshis near the Fulbari border. The incident reportedly took place on Friday around 3:00 PM at Gorokmandol, located near the 930 main border pillar in Naodanga Union of Fulbari Upazila.
According to local sources, a group of BSF personnel from the 138 Narayanpur Camp in India unlawfully crossed into Bangladeshi territory through the Gorokmandol border. As they advanced, several Bangladeshis confronted them, prompting the BSF members to react aggressively. In response, the border guards allegedly assaulted the locals. The situation quickly escalated, drawing the attention of nearby residents who gathered in large numbers. The villagers subsequently chased the BSF personnel, forcing them to retreat across the border.
The victims, identified as Shamsul, Jabed Ali, Tajul Islam, Kashem Ali, and Ripon, all hail from the border-adjacent village of Krishnananda Bokshi. Following the altercation, the injured individuals received medical attention locally.
Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Bazlur Rahman, commanding officer of the Lalmonirhat 15 Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Battalion, acknowledged the complaints from locals regarding the incident. He stated that the allegations of BSF intrusion and assault on Bangladeshi citizens in Krishnananda Bokshi village were being thoroughly investigated. Further actions would be determined based on the findings of the inquiry.
