BNP is facing a major electoral setback as several of its candidates concealed critical information, including defaulted loans and dual citizenship, forcing the party to bear significant consequences. This concealment has not only affected the party’s reputation but also negatively impacted the electoral prospects of other candidates. In Comilla-4, nominee Manjurul Ahsan Munshi’s candidacy was cancelled due to undisclosed defaulted loans, leaving the party unable to field an alternative strong candidate. In Comilla-10, Gofur Bhuiya’s nomination was annulled over dual citizenship allegations, while another candidate, Md. Mobasher Alam Bhuiya, was allowed by the High Court to contest. Similar issues of concealed debts or dual citizenship have emerged in Gazipur-3, Jessore-4, Gazipur-4, Dhaka-1, Chattogram-2, and other constituencies. These concealments are forcing BNP to rethink its electoral strategies, causing serious damage to both its public image and electoral prospects.
