Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud seeks Moroccan technical support and partnership in football development during official visit to Rabat
In a bid to enhance football development in Bangladesh, the government has initiated steps to seek cooperation from Morocco. On Wednesday, Sports and Youth Affairs Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan visited the Royal Moroccan Football Federation headquarters in Rabat, where he was welcomed by Secretary General Tarik Najem and Director Hassan Kharbouch.
During the visit, the Moroccan officials offered a guided tour of their state-of-the-art football complex. The facilities included modern training fields, medical and rehabilitation centers, and a comprehensive fitness unit. The visit aimed to explore opportunities for bilateral collaboration in football between the two nations.
Moroccan football authorities provided an in-depth overview of their football development framework, talent management strategies, and administrative practices. As part of the discussions, they proposed technical assistance, training support, and joint programs to help advance football standards in Bangladesh. The proposal was positively received by Adviser Mahmud, who acknowledged Morocco’s remarkable achievements in recent international competitions, particularly their performance in the FIFA World Cup.
Mahmud noted the strong admiration for the Moroccan national team among Bangladeshi fans. He suggested organizing a friendly football match between the two countries, which he believes would not only deepen sports diplomacy but also inspire young footballers and foster mutual goodwill.
He further emphasized the importance of adopting Morocco’s experience and strategic insights to build a comprehensive and competitive football ecosystem in Bangladesh. The visit reflects a broader initiative by the Bangladeshi government to engage with successful football nations and incorporate global best practices into the country’s sports development agenda.
