Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmud Khan assures full investigation into cause of crash and pledges comprehensive medical care for the injured.

Following the tragic crash of a Bangladesh Air Force training fighter jet at Milestone School and College in Uttara, Dhaka, Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmud Khan has promised complete transparency regarding the incident. Speaking at a condolence ceremony held on Tuesday afternoon at Kurmitola Air Base for the deceased pilot Flight Lieutenant Toukir Islam, the Air Force chief emphasized that no information related to the crash would be withheld from the public.

The incident occurred on Monday afternoon when an FT-7BGI fighter training aircraft crashed directly onto the school campus, causing multiple casualties among students and staff present at the site. The Air Chief assured that a thorough investigation is underway to determine whether any mechanical faults or other causes contributed to the crash.

Addressing concerns raised about the age and condition of the aircraft involved, the Air Chief clarified that the typical service life of such fighter jets is approximately 30 years. Furthermore, he explained that the original manufacturers, from whom Bangladesh procures these aircraft, maintain full responsibility for their upkeep and maintenance.

“The question of whether outdated planes were used for training is valid. However, these aircraft are rigorously maintained by their original suppliers to ensure safety and operational readiness,” he said.

The Air Chief also expressed deep concern for those injured in the accident, pledging that the Air Force will provide all necessary medical support until the victims have fully recovered. “Providing proper treatment to the injured is our highest priority. We will stand by them throughout their recovery process,” he added.

Emphasizing the importance of openness, he remarked, “We will not conceal any information. The people of this country deserve to know exactly what happened.”

The ceremony was attended by senior officials from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, paying their respects to the fallen pilot. The Air Chief expressed hope that collaborative efforts would help alleviate the suffering of the victims. “By working together, we can ease the pain of those affected, God willing,” he said.

This crash has deeply shocked the nation and raised questions about aviation safety and training protocols within the Bangladesh Air Force. Authorities have assured that the ongoing inquiry will be comprehensive, and findings will be shared publicly once finalized.

The Air Force Chief’s commitment to transparency and care for the victims signals the institution’s resolve to address the tragedy responsibly and restore public confidence in its operations.
