Hasnat Abdullah, chief organizer of the southern region of the National Citizen Party (NCP), has warned that a mass uprising similar to August 5 will re-emerge if the administration acts against the people. He said voters would reject black money, extortion, and tender manipulation through a “ballot revolution.”

He made the remarks on Wednesday afternoon while addressing an election rally of the 11-party alliance at Nabinagar Pilot High School ground in Brahmanbaria-5 constituency as the chief guest.

Hasnat Abdullah alleged that money earned through extortion and tender manipulation over the last one and a half years is now being poured into the election. “People are being offered promises with money. We believe the people of Nabinagar will reject these extortionists on the 12th through the power of their votes,” he said.

Issuing a warning to the administration, he added, “If the administration goes against the people of Bangladesh, August 5 will return. People will not accept injustice.”

In the Brahmanbaria-5 constituency, the 11-party alliance has nominated Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis candidate Amjat Hossain, who is contesting with the rickshaw symbol. Campaigning for him, Hasnat Abdullah said, “Across the country, a wave of change is visible. Some are marching with the paddy sheaf, others with the football symbol. But at the end of the day, people will stamp the rickshaw.”

He claimed that people are fed up with extortion. “Even those involved in extortion and tender manipulation want their children to grow up in a society free from corruption,” he added.

Speaking on the role of law enforcement agencies, Hasnat Abdullah said the party wants a credible and participatory election that brings patriotic forces to power. However, he alleged that greedy figures similar to Benazir, Harun, and Biplob are resurfacing.

Addressing police officials, he said, “Dear police brothers, learn from the past. We want an election where no SP, OC, or SI needs to keep money. If anyone touches illegal money, remember—you have families and children. Divine justice will not spare you.”

He also warned the media, saying, “If the media fails to play a neutral role in the upcoming election, the people will show them a red card as well.”

The rally was presided over by Nabinagar Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Mokhlesur Rahman. Other speakers included District Jamaat Ameer Maulana Md Mobarak Hossain, Supreme Court Appellate Division lawyer Abdul Baten, and District Khelafat Majlis President Emdadul Haque Siraji.

With the 13th National Parliamentary Election approaching, political activities in Nabinagar have intensified. Issues such as administrative neutrality, the influence of black money, and law and order have emerged as key topics in election campaigns across the constituency.
