Aminul Haque, the Dhaka-16 candidate of the Dhaner Sheesh 🌾 symbol, has announced plans to break the gas syndicate and ensure household gas connections in the Pallabi–Mirpur area, aiming to resolve the long-standing gas crisis. He alleged that a powerful self-interested group has deliberately kept residential gas connections off to profit from cylinder sales, causing severe hardships for ordinary citizens.
On Sunday (1 February), he made these statements during a public outreach in Mirpur-11, Sabuj Bangla residential area, and surrounding neighborhoods. Residents warmly welcomed him with floral greetings as he began his campaign in the morning. During the event, he interacted with voters and distributed leaflets detailing his development plans.
Speaking to journalists, Aminul Haque said, “Although the gas crisis is now a national issue, its severity is particularly high in Mirpur–Pallabi. A syndicate has created an artificial shortage, holding ordinary people hostage. If elected, breaking this syndicate will be a top priority.”
Regarding law and order, he mentioned that efforts are being coordinated with law enforcement to make Mirpur–Pallabi free from extortion, drugs, and juvenile gangs. He also stated that a ‘zero tolerance’ policy would be implemented to curb crime if he is elected.
On the electoral environment, he said that party workers have been instructed not to respond to any provocations, emphasizing that their goal is to conduct the election peacefully and democratically.
Addressing voters, he added, “Law and order are under control. You can safely exercise your right to vote at polling stations on 12 February. We are counting on the people’s mandate through the ballot.”
Raising concerns against opponents, he claimed that suspicious activities, including collecting NID card photos and mobile financial service numbers, have been reported in various areas and that the matter has been reported to the Election Commission.
Throughout the day, his campaign saw lively and festive participation from people of different classes and professions in Mirpur–Pallabi.
