AK Ratul, the vocalist and bassist of the band ‘Ong’ and son of renowned Bangladeshi film actor Jashim, has passed away following a sudden heart attack. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon around 3:30 PM while he was exercising at a gym in the Uttara area of Dhaka.
The news was confirmed to the media by the band’s lyricist, Siam Ibn Alam. He stated that Ratul collapsed during his workout session and was immediately rushed to a nearby medical facility. First, he was taken to Crescent Hospital in Uttara. From there, he was transferred to Lubna Hospital for further emergency care.
Despite all efforts, attending physicians at Lubna Hospital declared him dead shortly after his arrival. The sudden loss has sent a wave of shock through the country’s music and entertainment industry, especially among fans and fellow musicians who admired his contributions to the contemporary band scene.
Ratul was not only a prominent figure in the underground music circuit but also carried the legacy of his father, the late Jashim, one of the most iconic action heroes in the history of Bangladeshi cinema. Though he followed a different path in music, Ratul had made a distinct name for himself, becoming a known face in the band community through his work with ‘Ong’.
Friends, colleagues, and admirers have begun expressing their grief and condolences across social media, remembering him as a talented artist and kind-hearted individual. His sudden death at such a young age has sparked conversations about the growing health risks among youth and the importance of regular medical check-ups, even for those who appear physically active. Further details regarding funeral arrangements or statements from family members were not immediately available. The band ‘Ong’ and those close to Ratul are reportedly mourning in private.
