After a gap of 22 years, BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman is visiting Khulna today and will also address a public rally in Jashore on the same day, creating significant political excitement across the Khulna division. Party leaders and activists describe the visit as more than a routine election program, seeing it instead as a moment to revive morale, energize the organization, and reconnect with long-standing supporters. From early morning, a festive atmosphere has been visible around the Prabhati School ground in Khalishpur, where the Khulna rally is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. According to the itinerary, Tarique Rahman will arrive in Khulna by helicopter around noon, address the rally, and then depart for Jashore at approximately 1:00 p.m. Party sources expect leaders and activists from Khulna, Bagerhat, and Satkhira to attend in large numbers, and candidates contesting under the Dhaner Sheesh 🌾 symbol in the region will be formally introduced. The choice of an industrial area as the venue reflects an effort to engage directly with workers, listen to their concerns, and highlight issues affecting the industrial belt. Leaders anticipate that his speech may touch on reviving closed factories and power plants, ensuring pipeline gas supply, resolving waterlogging in the Bill Dakatia area, and safeguarding livelihoods in the industrial zones. Following the Khulna rally, Tarique Rahman will travel to Jashore for the first time, arriving by helicopter around 1:30 p.m. to address a major public gathering at the Upashahar College ground in Jashore Sadar as the chief guest. District leaders believe that despite only two days of preparation, the rally could become one of the largest in Jashore’s history, with an estimated turnout exceeding 200,000 people. The venue was selected outside the city center to minimize public inconvenience and ensure smoother crowd management, while coordination with law enforcement agencies has been ongoing to strengthen security arrangements. Party leaders express confidence that the gathering will be filled through spontaneous public participation rather than special mobilization efforts. Overall, the back-to-back rallies in Khulna and Jashore are being viewed as a significant political moment, injecting fresh momentum into the campaign ahead of the national parliamentary elections and reinforcing support for the Dhaner Sheesh 🌾 symbol across the region.
