A total of 25 Middle East-bound flights have been cancelled today from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport due to security concerns arising from the ongoing conflict involving joint strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran. Aviation sources confirmed that over the past three days, 173 flights operated by various airlines have been cancelled, reflecting the direct impact of escalating regional tensions on international air travel. Among the cancelled services are four flights of Qatar Airways, five of Emirates, two of Kuwait Airways, two of Jazeera Airways, eight of Air Arabia and four operated by US-Bangla Airlines. In addition, Biman Bangladesh Airlines has announced the suspension of its flights until March 5 to destinations including Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, Dammam in Saudi Arabia, Doha in Qatar and Kuwait. According to the Civil Aviation Authority, the closure of airspace in several countries due to the conflict led to the cancellation of 23 flights on February 28, 40 on March 1, 46 on March 2 and 39 on March 3. Authorities noted that Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar and Jordan have temporarily shut down their airspace, forcing airlines to suspend operations on affected routes. The disruption has caused uncertainty and concern among migrant workers and other travelers bound for Middle Eastern destinations. Airport officials have advised passengers to remain in close contact with their respective airlines for updated flight information. Services are expected to resume gradually once the regional security situation stabilizes.
